How do location settings work

This article describes the settings and implications of using the locations feature in Nixxis Contact Suite.

The locations setting can be accessed through the Technical parameters

An existing "Location" created without resources cannot be used by the system. If a Location with no resources attached is selected on an outbound activity, calling will not be possible and yes, resources can be attached to only one location.

For information, locations are used to manage the geographical distribution of the hardware linked to the Nixxis Contact Suite Software; specifically the NMS(Asterisks) and the telephones.

Each location will be associated to his own "resource" that itself will be associated to his own "carrier".

Cost of the location
A cost can be defined for the usage of the location. This is taken into account for the calculation of the Profit based routing by the ACD. See below.

Cost of routing(source & destination costs)
This function is useful when calls are transferred from and to other sites. It allows defining in that case the transportation costs between the sites.

If the transport cost associated to all location is the same (by default),  when you try to place a call with a phone related to another location than the default one, the system will choose the first available without any distinction (the default one): "why going elsewhere if the cost is the same?"
